Desert National Park Part 1

<p> <span color="rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87)" face="Roboto, Noto, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">it was a Family trip to Jaisalmer and plan to visit Desert National Park one day, just to show Vultures and Great Indian Bustard to My Son & Wife.</span></p><span color="rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87)" face="Roboto, Noto, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">We wake up around 4.30am to reach there 7.30am coz from Jaisalmer to Desert National Park is 74km. we missed sunrise but lil manage the beauty of sunrise. on 11th February, temperature was 12°C. There were 4 guides and i had hired  <a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100033256733509">Anwar Khan Guide</a> , </span><span color="rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87)" face="Roboto, Noto, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">Mob : 09521054392. </span><div><span color="rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87)" face="Roboto, Noto, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">Paid entry fee and we entered the park but not in fenced area coz it is only for Great Indian Bustard So we cant enter in, just we can saw the birds from outside the park. Many times i witnessed, i'm lucky.This incidence was happened during mine trip for Asian Dowitcher in January'19.it was long journey of 550+ km from my home and started with my best buddy Viren Desai in the noon of 18th Jaunary'19 towards Ahmedabad to pick another best buddy Pankaj Maheriya but he was busy and will came with his car so we bypass the road from Ahmedabad from kheda.<br />
After drive of some kms,just a thought came and called Akbarbhai,my best guide of Nal Sarovar to say hi coz we were just 50km away from him around at 3pm.he told us to came there to click as Indian Fox and its Pups.as we have lots time time we went there,<br />
reached there around at 4pm and clicked so many birds with Saker Falcon(my lifer) and take sit behind messed tree bushes for hide ourselves.waited for more than hour and finally beauty came but we were noticed.<br />

Indian Leopard

Many time, My Friend Viren's Mom had told me "you went for sasan safari many times with my son,when you are going to take us with you for safari?" and after 1+year we had finalized this family trip on 30th May to 2nd June 2019.<br />
i had booked Morning Safari for 12 person of 31st May 2019,so we have to reach by 5am for permit letter,route allotment for safari,guide and vehicle coz there been long queue but we reached around at 5.30am and after 30+min we were on the way for morning Gypsy safari of Sasan Gir in 2 Gypsy.<br />
Sunrise already done and enough sunlight,after drive of 20min of park entry,we sighted wild Boar then spotted owlet.Then we moved inside the jungle and We were Looking for lion,lioness and their cub as we heard the news of it but around 6.32am we sighted Indian Leopard,who was eating dead buffalo, it was my 2nd sighting of Indian Leopard in Gir Safari.1st one was sighted in 2016 when i was with my family and 2nd sighting again with my family.<br />
it was a dried area of small river passing thru it and luckily we can easily see this beauty.i'm much surprised coz it was busy in eating and ignoring 5 gypsy,Sasan leopard are much shy and they hide them self in bushes.i had took many photos and 3-4 videos of this beauty and we were on the way in the jungle.<br />

it was end of our 2nd day's evening safari and we were returning,but still we were looking for leopards for sighting.we told our gypsy driver to drive fast to go near by to ground level water tank coz wild animals mostly came there before sun set.<br />
while we reach at one of ground level water tank,we had sighted Indian Golden Jackal and it was drinking water.it was great moment to watch such activity,we had clicked some shots.after drinking water,sudden it jump down to ground and started running towards us,might be it ignored us or whatever but we were lucky to frame straight body pose.<br />

The Lion King

 were on family trip of Saurastra with my family n my cousin's family.as
 on 24th November we were at Gir National Park for Lion safari.it was 
around 2.30pm n our safari driver picked us from our resort.while we 
were on the way to park,rain showering was started n we all thought for 
full rain but finally it stops.Around 3.15pm we had entered in 
the park.during safari our guide told us some info n rules.I had told him for birding.<br />
after 
5mins we saw a monitor lizard, Spotted Deer, Sambar Deer. after 
drive of 30-40min our gypsy sudden stopped n guide shows the spotted 
owlet,it was just 10-15ft away from us.due to other gypsy came we moved ahead.<br />
After 1+hr of drive we 
didn't seen a lion/lioness,most of returning gypsy driver had told us 
that they had not seen a lion/lioness.so we r lil disappointed but 
finger crossed for our kids.<br />
Another 5-10mins of drive i saw a 
leopard n asked to stop the gypsy but while we stop, leopard walked 
inside,it was just 40-45ft away.its a
 1st wow moment.our guide also told us that u r lucky to see.<br />
We 
all were talking n our guide told to stop talking as he seen the other gypsy r 
stopped at a point n our guide shows us 2 Lions...yeah...1st time i saw 
them in jungle.<br />

After long time, i went out of city to celebrate our Anniversary and the destination was Madikeri,Coorg, Karnataka.before reaching Madikeri,i had planned to visit Kabini for Black Panther.so they give a evening safari on 1/2/17 and morning boat safari on 2/2/17.<br />
around at 8.45am, i came home from hectic night shift  at hospital on 30/1/17 and we have to go my birth town udvada by train. The train timing was 12:05pm but due to cab booking,it was delayed.thanks to cab driver who take shortest n fastest way so we reach around at 12:03pm at Surat railway station.Around at 1.15pm we reached at udvada station.my dad picked us n reached our home.stayed there for one night n in morning picked a train to Andheri for mumbai airport.flight was around at 1.15pm but its delayed for 2+hr but finally we reached at Bangalore airport around at 5pm.i had booked a cab there n went to Mysore.stayed for one night and next day we were on the way to Jungle Lodge Kabini.<br />
Around 1.15pm we reached JLR,Kabini. after getting fresh, we meet all guest at Golghar for tea/coffee.then came back to room n went alone for birding in side the resort till 3.30pm.Again we all meet at golghar for safari. i meet a humble person who is a Naturalist mr.Prasanna for zone A safari as talked with JLR.After 10+min of talks,We were in the jeep safari with two couple.in which group, one couple was Jigar shah from Mumbai and other guy was with big lens,who was a pediatrician Dr.Shashank Gowda.<br />
After getting entry from check post we were in the Kabini.we all were looking here n there for wild cats but nothing found.we reached at a pond and waited for 5+min for any call but nothing so went inside and after a drive of 10+min sudden i saw a Tiger, jump on macaque n shouted(in low pitch voice) to stop jeep.due to sudden breaking,lost most focusing of tiger, even thopugh shoot for 2 click n boom.got my 1st shot of tiger.it was soft n at 600mm, missed to frame whole tiger.before i zoom out my lens,tiger went inside.waited for 30-40min to tiger came out as macaque was small so it was less then breakfast for tiger but didn't came out from bushes.<br />

Indian Grey Wolf

Blackbuck National Park, Velavdar is the heaven for Harrier lovers.Except Pied Harrier,all Harriers came there between August to March for wintering.They roost on ground and hunts locusts,snakes,lizard,small rodents and birds which help as biological pest control to farm crops,maintains the Eco-system of grassland.<br />
Pankaj have to go at Bhavnagar medical collage as an external examiner for final exam on 19/10/16 so we had planned a trip of Blackbuck National Park,Velavdar on 20th.many of my friend wanna join me but didn't informed them as if we go in 2-3 cars the person in 1st car took photos n rest will none.<br />
So i set a plan with my best friend and birders Viren Desai, Hiren Joshi and Dharmesh Kadiwala to go Blackbuck National Park in noon of 19th.<br />
i went to Kadiwala's home to pick him and then went Bardoli to pick Hiren n Viren.thought to cross bharuch 4.30pm but we were at bardoli at 4.30pm and Pankaj checked in at Blackbuck National Park's dormitory.we had reached around at 12.30am after hectic traffic.<br />
After 5hrs of sleep coz we were on discussion for our website <a href="http://birdsofgujarat.co.in/">http://birdsofgujarat.co.in</a> ,we were all ready for morning safari for Indian Grey Wolf after tea at dormitory n went inside with guide Sikandar after pay of entry fee n camera fee.searched at each suspected location for sighting but failed to sight it.Even we did photography of harriers at both side of park.ended before closure of park in noon.<br />
we went outside of park, on a highway for lunch and after 1hr came back.thought for some sleep at rest room but don't know i was unable to sleep.we again went inside the park for evening safari.now our focus was on harriers specially on male harriers.The reason was they looks beautiful due to their color.and succeed for Montagu's harriers male gives some excellent flying shots.<br />
Around 4.30pm our guide told to go at lake side/water collection side coz Indian Grey Wolf might come there for water drink n bath.frankly speaking i was against to there coz one wishlist bird "pallid harrier male" was still pending and if we went there,time will lapse n sunlight will gone so photo will not click good, still we went there n luckily sighted Indian Grey Wolf,credit to our guide Sikandar who sighted from far and we went there very hurriedly coz they were about to run inside and speedily we focused and clicked,got 5-6 shots from long distance.not a good click but happy to sighted there.shot was against the light but love this evening light.<br />

out of 2 shots the 1st shot was out of focused due to handheld n the lioness was behind the tree.<br />

How can i express my Happiness...coz it was extra happy moments in my life.till now i hate photography,so never tried.<br />
we were on family trip of Saurastra with my family n my cousin's family.as on 24th November we were at Gir National Park for Lion safari.it was around 2.30pm n our safari driver picked us from our resort.while we were on the way to park,rain showering was started n we all thought for full rain but finally it stops.<br />
Around 3.15pm we had entered in the park.during safari our guide told us some info n rules.my husband Dr.Anand told him for birding as he likes bird photography.<br />
after 5mins 1st time i saw a monitor lizard(my huby n my 7yrs old son sighted it at Velavdar but i missed) then saw Spotted Deer, Sambar Deer. after drive of 30-40min our gypsy sudden stopped n guide shows the spotted owlet,it was just 10-15ft away from us.<br />
After 1+hr of drive we didn't seen a lion/lioness,most of returning gypsy driver had told us that they had not seen a lion/lioness.so we r lil disappointed but finger crossed for our kids.<br />
Another 5-10mins of drive my huby told to stop the gypsy coz there was a leopard,it was 40-45ft away.its a 1st wow moment.our guide also told us that u r lucky to see.<br />
We all were talking n our guide told to stop as he seen the other gypsy r stopped at a point n our guide shows us 2 Lions...yeah...1st time i saw them in jungle.My huby n my son clicked in their cam.enjoyed this moments at-least for 5-10 min and we moved ahead.<br />
after drive of 5min we seen 2 lioness n 3-4cubs.my huby was busy in clicking n asking my son to click but he was lost himself in this moment to see all thing n forget to click so i picked the camera n 1st time clicked but photo was blurred coz i dont know how to click?... lens was 55-250mm n it was at 55mm so i asked my hubby..lioness n cubs were far away so he expand it to 250mm.when i tried to see in view finder,there was nothing to see so again i asked him n he remind me to half press shutter button n when u see it clear then click. and i got this image.<br />
