Horn-eyed Ghost Crab

<p> 5Yrs ago i went Kutch,Gujarat for birding 1st time, clicked so many birds in morning session and in the evening again went for birds but sighted less birds than morning session. So went more away from parked car  and saw Horn-eyed Ghost Crabs. They were gathering sea sand and making pillers of sand to attract female for matting so i get down, crawled and took some photos. bit difficult for me to get closure and took photos coz they were moving fast and unable to focus so tried for video.</p><p>i had taken 4 videos but 2 were out of focus so merged them and also added photos. Many times i witnessed, i'm lucky.This incidence was happened during mine trip for Asian Dowitcher in January'19.it was long journey of 550+ km from my home and started with my best buddy Viren Desai in the noon of 18th Jaunary'19 towards Ahmedabad to pick another best buddy Pankaj Maheriya but he was busy and will came with his car so we bypass the road from Ahmedabad from kheda.<br />
After drive of some kms,just a thought came and called Akbarbhai,my best guide of Nal Sarovar to say hi coz we were just 50km away from him around at 3pm.he told us to came there to click as Indian Fox and its Pups.as we have lots time time we went there,<br />
reached there around at 4pm and clicked so many birds with Saker Falcon(my lifer) and take sit behind messed tree bushes for hide ourselves.waited for more than hour and finally beauty came but we were noticed.<br />

Indian Leopard

Many time, My Friend Viren's Mom had told me "you went for sasan safari many times with my son,when you are going to take us with you for safari?" and after 1+year we had finalized this family trip on 30th May to 2nd June 2019.<br />
i had booked Morning Safari for 12 person of 31st May 2019,so we have to reach by 5am for permit letter,route allotment for safari,guide and vehicle coz there been long queue but we reached around at 5.30am and after 30+min we were on the way for morning Gypsy safari of Sasan Gir in 2 Gypsy.<br />
Sunrise already done and enough sunlight,after drive of 20min of park entry,we sighted wild Boar then spotted owlet.Then we moved inside the jungle and We were Looking for lion,lioness and their cub as we heard the news of it but around 6.32am we sighted Indian Leopard,who was eating dead buffalo, it was my 2nd sighting of Indian Leopard in Gir Safari.1st one was sighted in 2016 when i was with my family and 2nd sighting again with my family.<br />
it was a dried area of small river passing thru it and luckily we can easily see this beauty.i'm much surprised coz it was busy in eating and ignoring 5 gypsy,Sasan leopard are much shy and they hide them self in bushes.i had took many photos and 3-4 videos of this beauty and we were on the way in the jungle.<br />

Last year made a trip for passage migrant during September end at <a href="https://www.facebook.com/KUNJ-the-birding-homestay-276055619156663/" target="_blank">Kunj HomeStay</a> with my best buddies.After great images of Painted Sandgrouse then took our dinner and talk regarding birding till 10.30pm and went for night birding specially for Nightjars.<br />
After drive of 30min,my cheetah display low tire pressure and decreasing so afraid of tire puncture,sudden Vikramsinh Bapu told to drive carefully coz there might be on the road and i break my xuv500 as light fall slightly away from it and surprisingly it was a Hedgehog.we all took shots from distance and parked my car beside the road as saw many vehicles were passing.<br />
Vikramsinh told that it has very poor eyesight and walk very slowly so many times they killed by vehicles so gently bapu pick it up in his hand and put at other-side of road.<br />

The Lion King

<span style="font-size: x-large;">8</span>th May 2017 was the last day of our Sasan Trip and as always we were
 late in our morning Safari, So we paid big loss of 2 Adult male Lion 
just by 10min even we entered at 6.30am.whom i blame, coz we all are 
friend n go ahead.<br />
we went inside after useless waiting of 20min 
and sudden fog came and covered most of area.again disappointment.still 
we moved inside n inside till 7.10am and find nothing due to heavy fog 
except Peacock.  <br />
Sudden
 Fog fade out and like our bad luck also gone,we saw group of 
Lions.stopped there,enjoyed watching them and clicked so many shots.Tracker told to move and our Gypsy moved towards railway track.<br />
After drive of 10+min we saw 2 lions walking  but one had sit there and one started walking so we follow the king and stopped at one point on road and waiting for it to cross the road.after 5-7min we saw and started clicking it.we were busy to clicking Lion and our guide told us to focus for 2nd one.it was very close and missed to frame full body, crossed the road and went inside the bushes.here is the unlucky frame.<br />

Since Long time,i has a dram to frame Lion on a Railway track and thought to fulfill this wish During my Sasan Trip in May 2017.Mostly it depends on luck coz lion mostly not cross its territory or if they try to do,their tracker not to do them.<br />
we Started our Morning safari at its time and searching birds as well as leopard and lion.it was lil foggy morning and we sighted Spotted owlet,Tickell's blue Flycatcher,Yellow-crowned Woodpecker.Then we moved inside and clicked Male Spotted Deer and later Sambar Deer. while we moved further inside on our root,we sighted groups of Sub Adult Lion and Liones,clicked some shots and moved towards railway line for my desire shot.Before we reach ther,i sighted Jungle Nightjar and clicked good shots.<br />
After giving 2min,we rushed at railway crossing and dont know what our sixth sense worked but one of gypsy covered whole road and we missed my dream shot.so we forced our gypsy driver to drive and that narrow minded driver,driven his gypsy lil aside.while we reach over track,Lion crossed and walking beside the track.i missed shot.most worst thing was in that gypsy,no one had camera...<br />

Black Monkey also known as The 
Purple-faced Langur is a monkey that is endemic to Sri Lanka. Living now
 predominantly in the hill country, numbers have become critically low, 
and they are listed among the 25 most endangered primates in the world. 
Purple-faced Langurs live in harems of 5 to 10 monkeys with one male, 
several females, and their offspring. Other animals trying to invade 
their territory will get an earful of loud barking calls.<br />
During Family trip of Sri Lanka,Madu river ride in boat was planned trip and have target to click it.even i asked to our boatman to give time for click,so boatman told that Black Monkey are very shy and usually hide themselves in leaf so bit difficult to sight but luckily we sighted alone and with baby too.<br />

i was at Sasan Gir, Gujarat with my friends on a 4days trip and on 7th May,it was a 3rd day.we did morning safari of 6am to 9am and did birding.<br />
we returned at our resort around at 10am and we have time till 3pm so thought what to do.Pankaj told for to go Devaliya Park and went there.<br />
we were there specially for Vulture but cudn't get good shot even after sighting of it.we stopped at a point where group of sub adult lion, lioness were sitting and lucky to click mind blowing frame.<br />

Blackbuck National Park is large grassland in gujarat where Harrier rousting.mostly i go during 2nd week of October and i was there with my friends on 20/10/16.<br />
clicked many harriers, blackbuck and other birds.around 10.30am we saw a blue bull and drongo was flying near it,for a time pass i had clicked 2-3 shots and sharing one of here.<br />

I had clicked Laggar falcon,Peregrine Falcon and other birds in 
Little Rann of Kutch.we were in the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary.we were 
traveled 100+km since 3pm to 6pm,our last click was of harrier n our 
guide Becharbhai told us u were in wild ass Sanctuary n you must click 
Indian Wild Ass with Sunset so be fast n sit in jeep.we went at one 
point from where we can see Indian Wild Ass were going n Sun was set 
behind them.even watching them is pleasant experience.<br />
As at first
 avoid to click but tried one click n its superb so run myself to frame 
group of wild ass.sit on ground set my camera on tripod n waited for 
shot.click...click...click but Sun was lil above them so again run to 
frame them after 500+mtr from our jeep to find the best place n 
click...click...click.now got good result.<br />
This Shot was clicked at 6:22pm.its a first try of photo in sunset light n in hurry forget to change the camera setting.but if you know,how to play with Photoshop n get desired frame.<br />

 , we had clicked it At Girnar Wildlife Sanctuary,Junagadh then went to Amber farm, sasan for stay.then we had
 did 6am to 9am and 3pm to 6pm safari in sasan for 2 consecutive day.<br />
We reached at booking office by 5.45am in the morning of 06/05/17 and get our route n driver plus guide.without delay we were in the national Park and searching Pride of Gujarat to frame them.till 7.40am we clicked bird and traveled more than 10 km.<br />
At one place while we were on the road,seen few of Maruti Gypsy were stopped so thought for lions were sighted but they were waiting to cross the road by group of lion. we also stopped at one point and searching for lions.sudden one Sambar Deer crossed from front of us and sighted lions group.<br />
We were Luckiest coz on our front side 2-3 gypsy were and back side also 2 gypsy,these group of lion and lioness crossed us from front and back side also.we just enjoyed watching them coz they all were just 5-10ft away from us.Though i had clicked few shots n here is one of them.<br />

it was end of our 2nd day's evening safari and we were returning,but still we were looking for leopards for sighting.we told our gypsy driver to drive fast to go near by to ground level water tank coz wild animals mostly came there before sun set.<br />
while we reach at one of ground level water tank,we had sighted Indian Golden Jackal and it was drinking water.it was great moment to watch such activity,we had clicked some shots.after drinking water,sudden it jump down to ground and started running towards us,might be it ignored us or whatever but we were lucky to frame straight body pose.<br />

The Lion King

We
 were on family trip of Saurastra with my family n my cousin's family.as
 on 24th November we were at Gir National Park for Lion safari.it was 
around 2.30pm n our safari driver picked us from our resort.while we 
were on the way to park,rain showering was started n we all thought for 
full rain but finally it stops.Around 3.15pm we had entered in 
the park.during safari our guide told us some info n rules.I had told him for birding.<br />
after 
5mins we saw a monitor lizard, Spotted Deer, Sambar Deer. after 
drive of 30-40min our gypsy sudden stopped n guide shows the spotted 
owlet,it was just 10-15ft away from us.due to other gypsy came we moved ahead.<br />
After 1+hr of drive we 
didn't seen a lion/lioness,most of returning gypsy driver had told us 
that they had not seen a lion/lioness.so we r lil disappointed but 
finger crossed for our kids.<br />
Another 5-10mins of drive i saw a 
leopard n asked to stop the gypsy but while we stop, leopard walked 
inside,it was just 40-45ft away.its a
 1st wow moment.our guide also told us that u r lucky to see.<br />
We 
all were talking n our guide told to stop talking as he seen the other gypsy r 
stopped at a point n our guide shows us 2 Lions...yeah...1st time i saw 
them in jungle.<br />

Vansda National Park gives lots species to me even though i wish to go there bi-monthly there.we had planned get together of our "Bird Watchers of Gujarat" 2nd meet there on 26 and 27th feb'17 with forest department of dang,gujarat and forest department of north and south dang gave us a appreciation certificate.so we have to take this honor to receive from DCF of North and South Dang division around at 5pm.<br />
so planned to visit Vansda National Park in morning session.we entered around after 8.30am and thought to find emerald dove n went a specific location but cudn't find. my friend Hiren Joshi told to find flying Indian Flying Fox with chicks,its a interesting but very difficult to find and then focus and click coz trees are very tall n there is a limited space between trees so we were unable to find and focus.<br />
Give up myself coz its much difficult to do in limited area so Hiren Joshi asked, very few have such shots and accepted challenge.we had spent more than 50mins there and clicked many shots of flying Indian Flying Fox with chicks.<br />
so here is one of them.<br />

it was an another cold morning of january'17 and as talked with my friend Viren Desai i was at our birding spot around at 8.30am on 12/01/17.<br />
before he came i was exploring area for new winter birds but didn't sighted.around 9.30am he came n we were went inside on that road beside Tapi river.<br />
i was little afraid of dogs due to category 3 dog bite 3yrs back and one dog was coming towards us with one man with horse,i gave way to that dog.we were sitting on dusty road and clicking yellow-eyed babbler and Tawny-bellied babbler,sudden hear noise and that dog was coming towards us.as thought to stand up n went inside to give a way to dog but don't know why,focused on it clicked 2-3 shots n after click, when i saw it looks more beautiful but whole dog was not in frame so reduced to 500mm and again clicked.in only one shot, dog was fully in frame and looks marvelous. <br />

i was shocked when my friend Dharmesh Kadiwala aka DK called me around
 at 4pm and asked "doctor get ready for night roam in car & photography at 6pm",coz we 
have to roam in Bardoli outskirt for Leopard.we had read in news paper n
 even got info that Leopard was sighting since 2 days.<br />
i went to 
DK's home around at 6.30pm on 19/02/16,parked my car then we went 
towards Bardoli in DK's Duster.After reaching there,took our dinner of 
Khichdi and Hiren came around 7pm.<br />
we had checked lights,camera 
settings and journey started around at 7.30pm.i was so excited as it was
 my 1st experience,even little afraid.<br />
We were roaming here n there surrounding Bardoli for sighting of Leopard.Around 11pm we sighted this beauty n cudn't stop our self to came out for his portrait photography.<br />

As mention story at <a href="http://www.yugworld.net/2016/10/indian-grey-wolf.html#.WA9lXyRsZzk">Indian Grey Wolf</a> i was at Blackbuck National Park Velavdar on 20/10/16 with my friends. i was specially there for harrier but cudn't stop myself to click jumping blackbuck.as we were roaming in Blackbuck natinal park and seen this Blackbuck from far ready to run so very quickly focus on it but before i focus it started running with jump.this photo was soft n log distance shot but like it.<br />

Blackbuck National Park, Velavdar is the heaven for Harrier lovers.Except Pied Harrier,all Harriers came there between August to March for wintering.They roost on ground and hunts locusts,snakes,lizard,small rodents and birds which help as biological pest control to farm crops,maintains the Eco-system of grassland.<br />
Pankaj have to go at Bhavnagar medical collage as an external examiner for final exam on 19/10/16 so we had planned a trip of Blackbuck National Park,Velavdar on 20th.many of my friend wanna join me but didn't informed them as if we go in 2-3 cars the person in 1st car took photos n rest will none.<br />
So i set a plan with my best friend and birders Viren Desai, Hiren Joshi and Dharmesh Kadiwala to go Blackbuck National Park in noon of 19th.<br />
i went to Kadiwala's home to pick him and then went Bardoli to pick Hiren n Viren.thought to cross bharuch 4.30pm but we were at bardoli at 4.30pm and Pankaj checked in at Blackbuck National Park's dormitory.we had reached around at 12.30am after hectic traffic.<br />
After 5hrs of sleep coz we were on discussion for our website <a href="http://birdsofgujarat.co.in/">http://birdsofgujarat.co.in</a> ,we were all ready for morning safari for Indian Grey Wolf after tea at dormitory n went inside with guide Sikandar after pay of entry fee n camera fee.searched at each suspected location for sighting but failed to sight it.Even we did photography of harriers at both side of park.ended before closure of park in noon.<br />
we went outside of park, on a highway for lunch and after 1hr came back.thought for some sleep at rest room but don't know i was unable to sleep.we again went inside the park for evening safari.now our focus was on harriers specially on male harriers.The reason was they looks beautiful due to their color.and succeed for Montagu's harriers male gives some excellent flying shots.<br />
Around 4.30pm our guide told to go at lake side/water collection side coz Indian Grey Wolf might come there for water drink n bath.frankly speaking i was against to there coz one wishlist bird "pallid harrier male" was still pending and if we went there,time will lapse n sunlight will gone so photo will not click good, still we went there n luckily sighted Indian Grey Wolf,credit to our guide Sikandar who sighted from far and we went there very hurriedly coz they were about to run inside and speedily we focused and clicked,got 5-6 shots from long distance.not a good click but happy to sighted there.shot was against the light but love this evening light.<br />

i don't likes cats and dogs after bite by dog,3-4yrs back coz i dont know whats my fault and that dog bite me in a garden while i was walking.<br />
one cat was a frequent visitor of my backyard,sometime it sit there.one day i hear a sound of baby kittens.still avoid to see them,one day my wife told me,its looks so beautiful n click them so on 31st July tried to click with 50mm but they were angry on me n revert back to 600mm.<br />
They had broken my many small trees which were in pots.got only 2-3 good shots and here is one of them.<br />
